But, of course I will eventually. You kinow how Rap music has that same type of beat? That's what I get from that Damn Drum Machine! I hope Stargazer is right about the "surprises." And I hope they consist of studio musicians. Mainly real drummers.
I know what you mean. To me, it's not JUST the drum
machine. All albums that came out after the Too album have the same compressed
sound. And with this "wall of sound", I find that I miss the
"layered sound" from the hands of time -> Too area. Those albums had
acoustic guitars, keyboards, etc supporting the pumping riffs. On songs like I
can feel it, Mother, Gotta move now (= IDENTICAL to Living Dynamite),
Hey Mama, etc. I really am annoyed instead of enjoying it. The songs are too
simple and lack the depth of earlier KC (of course IMHO).
Magnified was a big step in the good direction because
of the slight change of style, it sounded fresh and new. With a cast of great
players (like the live band) who could all add their personal touch, like on
the Hands of time album (which also had a drum machine, but still is a great
album), it would have been an album that is up there with the best KC albums...
The next KC album will probably be a Lenny-KC album
again, I hope this time he hires a good producer to help him out.
